- An “e-Health record” that is gradually enriched with new functionalities
- Easy and fast management of paperless prescriptions, examination referrals, and medical certificates from your mobile phone
- "e-prescription", a milestone project for the Health Sector digitization: 2.6 million registered users, over 26 million paperless medicine prescriptions, 10 million paperless examination referrals
The myHealth application, which gives citizens access to their health profile from their mobile phone, was implemented by the OTE Group in co-operation with Byte Computer on behalf of the e-Government Centre for Social Security Services (IDIKA). The new mobile app enables citizens to easily, quickly and safely view and manage pharmaceutical prescriptions, examination referrals and medical certificates issued via the “e-prescription” system, and will soon be enriched with new medical data. The app is the next step in the multidimensional e-prescription project, which has been implemented with the input of the OTE Group.
The app is available as a free download for both Αndroid and ΙΟS mobile devices. More than 100,000 citizens have already downloaded and are using the myHealth app.
Through the application, citizens can receive push notifications for every new prescription or examination referral issued to their Social Security Number (AMKA), and have immediate access to information on medicines they are receiving or have received, as well as doctors’ notes. At the same time a history of all prescriptions for medicines and referrals registered with the e-Prescription System since January 1st 2012, is being provided. The app also enables parents to manage and monitor the e-prescriptions and referrals of indirectly insured family members, i.e. minors.
The goal is for the app to be constantly enriched with new features, so that it evolves into a complete “e-Health record” through which citizens can access all of their health data.
The CEO of IDIKA, Niki Tsouma, noted that “The myHealth Mobile app is only the beginning of an ambitious plan for the creation of a complete e-Health record for citizens. We are making sure this plan can become a reality, step by step, with respect for the public resources management and the support of the social state. Our power comes from the employees of IDIKA, with their specialized knowledge, as well as from the support of the Ministers of Digital Governance and Health. We would like to thank the contractors for completing the project on time and for meeting technical specifications that ensure reliable services for citizens. We will continue to improve the digital experience of our fellow citizens in the sectors of Health, Social Insurance, and Welfare”.
Initial registration on the application is made using taxisnet codes and a one-time password (OTP) that is sent to the citizen’s certified mobile phone. After initial registration, accessing the app through smart mobile devices is made quickly and safely, using biometric data and/or personal codes. A prerequisite for its use is registration to the paperless e-prescription service, through the ehealth.gov.gr Portal.
The myHealth App was implemented through the Framework Agreement signed by IDIKA and the OTE-Byte consortium and was based on technologies and services available at the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The application was designed and implemented by the consortium, in collaboration with Oracle Greece and the companies SIGMASOFT and DATAMED.
"e-prescription": Health Sector's digital transformation
The “e-prescription” is a milestone project for public health in our country. It has decisively changed citizens’ daily lives, contributing to the protection of vulnerable groups, simplification of procedures and rationalisation of medical spending. It concerns e-prescriptions for medicines and e-referrals for medical examinations that citizens receive via sms and/or email, execute them without having to produce them printed to the pharmacist and the diagnostic infirmary. It also helped schedule vaccinations against COVID-19, as registered citizens were notified via text message about their appointment pre-booking.
According to IDIKA data, to date, over 2.6 million citizens have registered and are being served remotely, with 26 million paperless prescriptions and 10 million paperless referrals having been issued. Finally, registered users have sent 66 million automated text messages (SMS) for issuing and execution of prescriptions and referrals, as well as 50 million e-mails.
The OTE Group’s contribution has been decisive throughout the project. In 2012, the Group undertook the implementation of the first phase, which involved connecting doctors and Social Security Organizations for electronic registration and filling of medicine prescriptions execution, contributing to the streamlining of bureaucratic procedures. The next major step was taken at the beginning of the pandemic in Greece, in late March 2020, with the transition to e-prescriptions for citizens, doctors and pharmacists. The OTE Group carried out the project, in partnership with Byte Computer, for the e-Government Center for Social Security Services (IDIKA), and it was implemented in record time.
The OTE Group's Chief Commercial Officer Business Segment, Grigoris Christopoulos, stated: “e-prescription is a milestone project for the Health Sector's digital transformation in Greece. We are proud to have contributed decisively to this project, which changed everyone’s daily life and made us feel safe under the most difficult of circumstances. It is a complex ICT project that, thanks to all the people who worked on it, was fully implemented in record time. Offering integrated ICT solutions, and utilizing the power of technology, we will continue to support the State, our customers and society to create a better world, for all.”
