- Completely free, where technically feasible, in areas fiber to the home has not reached households and businesses yet
- Gradual completion of upgrades within 2022
- No action required from subscribers
Gradual free upgrade of fixed-line broadband internet speeds is being launched for COSMOTE residential and business subscribers, wherever technically feasible, in areas fiber to the home has not reached households and businesses yet. The upgrade is scheduled to be completed within 2022.
COSMOTE’s residential and business subscribers for whom the upgrade is technically feasible will be moved up to the next highest commercially available Internet speed, at the same price. More specifically, subscribers with an economy speed plan of up to 24Mbps, 50Mbps and 100Mbps will be upgraded to 50Mbps, 100Mbps and 200Mbps, respectively, taking no action whatsoever and with no change to the duration of their contract or monthly rate. The upgrade will take place depending on each connection, either automatically and remotely or, in some cases, following technical implementation and communication with subscribers. Subscribers eligible to upgrade will be notified upon completion of the upgrade via their fixed telephony bill, the My COSMOTE App and via a text message (sms). More info at

The OTE Group’s strategic decision to upgrade to the next commercially available speed free of charge was announced last December to Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis by the Deutsche Telekom Group CEO, Tim Höttges and the Chairman and CEO of OTE Group, Michael Tsamaz, over a meeting, held at the Maximos Mansion.
“
The goal of upgrading speeds is for as many people as possible to capitalise on the state-of-the-art capabilities of the COSMOTE Fiber network. Faster internet speeds mean better daily life and greater productivity in the modern digital world,” said Panayiotis Gabrielides, OTE Group’s Chief Marketing Officer Consumer Segment.
FTTH growing dynamically
The COSMOTE Fiber to the Home (FTTH) infrastructure is growing dynamically. Through a sharp increase of investments, which will exceed €3 bn. by 2027, the OTE Group is bringing FTTH to 3 mn. households and businesses. Carrying out this huge project, the Group will cover approximately 2/3 of Greece’s lines with fiber to the home, responding to current and future needs and creating new prospects for the country’s digital growth. Today, there are over 600,000 FTTH lines on the COSMOTE Fiber network, and there will be approximately 1 million by the end of 2022.
“
The creation of our FTTH network is in full deployment, with optical fiber lines reaching thousands households and businesses every week, meeting the needs of the coming decades, as well as creating new prospects for the businesses’ digital transformation. OTE Group’s initiatives for dynamic FTTH expansion and upgrading of speeds strengthen the country’s performance in international indicators of fast internet penetration,” Mr. Gabrielides commented.
