  • OTE S.A. piloted the new “fiber-to-the-home” (FTTH) network architecture in the Municipality of Athens. Offering Internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps, the Group paved the way for the Gigabit Society.

 

  • The OTE Group received the “2017 Capital Link CSR Leadership Award”.
  • The OTE Group was the first telecommunications provider in Greece to be certified for its Energy Management System according to ISO 50001.
  • The new, ultramodern COSMOTE e-value “green” building in Keramiko, Athens was officially opened.
  • In collaboration with the Pediatric Trauma Care, the OTE Group created a new Trauma Center at the Karpenisi General Hospital. The new Trauma Center offers immediate care to more than 7,000 children annually
  • In the four-year period 2017-2020, the OTE Group is increasing its investments to €1,500,000,000 to develop fiber optic and 4G/4G+ networks, thereby contributing to the country’s technological development.
  • As part of Phase I of the EETT Regulation on Vectoring, the OTE Group undertook to upgrade approximately 12,000 cabinets in 168 urban centers throughout the country by October 6, 2017 in order to offer fixed Internet speeds of at least 100 Mbps.
  • Backed by OTE S.A., COSMOTE S.A. signed a bilateral contract amounting to €150,000,000 with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a syndicated loan agreement amounting to €150,000,000 with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).   • Residents, businesses and visitors to the island of Kastellorizo enjoy VDSL speeds of up to 50 Mbps for fixed telephony and 4G+ for mobile telephony with the deployment of groundbreaking wireless IP Trunk technology for interconnecting remote and inaccessible areas.
  • The first deployment in Greece and among the first in Europe, COSMOTE implemented the Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) technology at selected locations in the Patras city center.   • As part of the Group's strategy to use a common brand name for all its communication and entertainment products, the OTE Group's TV service became COSMOTE TV.
  • The OTE Group announced the signing of a €339,000,000 syndicated loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and concurrent loan agreement amounting to €50,000,000 with the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) aimed at acquiring additional liquidity for the Group’s strategic investments.
  • COSMOTE mobile customers in Athens and Thessaloniki and other regions of the country were the first in Greece and among the first in the world to experience Mobile Internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
  • After years of research and preparation, the COSMOTE mobile network was the first in Greece and among the first in Europe to introduce the new IPv6.
  • The COSMOTE HISTORY channel, dedicated to Greek history and civilization, was created.
  • COSMOTE Home Speed Booster was launched, which for the first time in Greece, combines fixed and mobile broadband speeds with 3G and 4G network speeds, through Hybrid Access technology, for fixed internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

  • OTE announced the signing of an agreement with ArabSat, the leading satellite services provider in the Middle East and Africa, for the sale of its 99.05% stake in Hellas Sat.
  • At the end of the year, the ΟΤΕ Group provided access to VDSL services to more than 1 million households. It also offered 55% 4G population coverage, which is more than double the coverage provided by other networks.

  • The 3G mobile telephony network offered a population coverage in excess of 98%, the largest in Greece according to the data that was submitted to EETT.
  • As of February, the Group was ready to provide broadband speeds up to 50 Mbps, via its new fiber optic fiber network.
  • The average Mobile Internet speed was increased by 40% with new downlink speeds of up to 42.2 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 5.8 Mbps.
  • An agreement was signed for the sale of the minority stake that OTE held in Telecom Serbia's share capital for approximately €400,000,000.
  • Following the additional sale of the Greek State shares and voting rights, Deutsche Telekom’s stake in OTE S.A. as at July 11, 2011 amounted to 40% and 10% for the Greek State.
  • The OTE TV Via Satellite service was presented and all existing pay TV services were incorporated under the brand name, OTE TV.

  • The implementation of an FTTC/ VDSL2 technology fiber optic network commenced in various areas of the municipalities of Alexandroupoli, Komotini, Xanthi, Serres and Zografou. At the same time, the ADSL network continued its expansion to more than 1,500,000 established ADSL ports across 1,500 different locations in Greece.
  • ΟΤΕ S.A. delisted from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
  • For the first time in Greece, mobile broadband plans with a downlink speed of 28.8 Mbps, the highest on the market, were commercially available.
  • The mobile network, the leading network in Greece and among the 10 top networks in the world, recorded downlink speeds of 42.2 Mbps during the trial period.
