The National Basketball Association (NBA) and COSMOTE TV, part of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. (OTE), today announced a multiyear broadcast partnership renewal that will see COSMOTE TV continue as the NBA’s exclusive official broadcast partner in Greece, expanding on a decade-long partnership.
As part of the NBA’s most extensive broadcast partnership ever in Greece, COSMOTE TV will broadcast more than 350 live games each season. This will include up to eight regular-season games per week highlighted by weekend primetime games as part of the league’s ‘NBA Saturdays and NBA Sundays presented by NBA2K21’ European primetime initiative, as well as up to seven live games per week on NBA TV – the league’s 24/7 dedicated channel. Fans can also look forward to the Christmas Day Games, NBA All-Star, NBA Playoffs, Conference Finals and The Finals.
“We are delighted to renew our multiyear agreement with the NBA,” said Dimosthenis Vasilopoulos, COSMOTE TV Content & Production Operations Director.
“Since 2012, COSMOTE TV has been the exclusive host of the top basketball league in the world. Along with all the other exclusive sports content, our sports channels are the ultimate destination for sports fans in Greece.”
“COSMOTE TV are committed and passionate partners and we are thrilled to expand our relationship,” said NBA EME Associate Vice President of Media Distribution, Bastien Lacheny.
“As the 2020-21 NBA regular season reaches its climax and ahead of the excitement of the Play-In Tournament, there has never been a better time to be an NBA fan in Greece.”
The deal also incorporates NBA League Pass – the NBA's subscription-based product that gives fans access to games, live and on-demand, for the entire season – with special bespoke packages for COSMOTE customers.
Fans in Greece will be able to watch two-time reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brother Thanasis (Milwaukee Bucks) and younger sibling Kostas - a 2020 NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers.
COSMOTE TV will also air all six games of the
NBA Play-In Tournament that tips off Tuesday, May 18 before the first round of the playoffs. Teams with the 7th-highest through the 10th-highest winning percentages in each conference will qualify to determine the 7th & 8th seeds.
COSMOTE TV’s weekly basketball show, Pick N’ Roll, airs every Tuesday during the season at 8pm (EET). Host Vassilis Skountis, along with a well-established and experienced team of basketball journalists, discuss the latest hot topics from around the NBA and other basketball leagues and bring fans guest interviews with a variety of current and former players.
