-Participation in the H2020 DataPorts European Research Project on smart ports
-Wide range of ICT solutions with implementation in the shipping sector
The OTE Group is participating in the
DataPorts research project for the digital transformation of ports. The project’s objectives are to manage data in order to optimize port operations and enhance the supply and transport chain, benefiting the wider ecosystem around ports.
The project is devoted to the creation of a central data management platform, of distributed architecture, which will allow fast and reliable mobility information exchange in both the traditional port ecosystem (port authorities, agents, shipping and transport companies) and the broader ecosystem of public and private agencies around ports (such as municipalities, regions, trade associations, companies, etc.).
DataPorts aims at providing to ports more effective monitoring of port traffic, better management of loads and cargo and at minimising transportation and waiting periods on central port roads. Furthermore, better traffic circulation and shorter turn-around times for vehicles in the port results in reduced air pollutant emissions. The utilisation of DataPorts will have many benefits for the broader port ecosystem, such as improvement of productivity, provision of better services, and creation of new sources of income.
ΟΤΕ Group is participating in the planning, development and testing of new services, the definition of technical requirements and specifications of the platform, and the overall assessment of the program. Moreover, contributes to the data provision and analysis, the dissemination and exploitation of the project’s results, as well as in shaping the business model.
The DataPorts research project is being co-funded by the EU through the Horizon 2020 framework and has a total duration of three years. There are 13 partners participating in the project (tech companies and research organisations) from five countries (France, Germany, Greece, Spain, and Israel). The ports of Thessaloniki and Valencia are participating in the DataPorts project as “pilots” for the implementation of the data management platform.
