60 years ago, an epic journey of exploration began in the heart of the Aegean, aiming to reveal a mystery of more than 4,500 years. In collaboration with a team of experts, and using state-of-the-art technology, the documentary "KEROS: THE MYSTERY OF THE BROKEN FIGURINES will unveil how Keros was the birthplace of a new way of life. The first co-production from COSMOTE TV and National Geographic will premiere on Monday 5 October 22.00, on COSMOTE HISTORY HD.
The documentary "KEROS: THE MYSTERY OF THE BROKEN FIGURINES" is based on the archaeological research and findings of the Cambridge Keros Project. Dr. Κostas Paschalidis, archaeologist and host of the documentary, will guide us on the island of Keros, where the discovery of hundreds of broken, marble figurines has been the subject of long-lasting scientific study and the beginning of a great mystery. Traveling back in time, we will seek to unveil how Dhaskalio, which in the past was connected to Keros by land, is believed to be one of the most important settlements of the Early Bronze Age.
In this archaeological journey, we will meet with Professor Colin Renfrew, one of the world's leading archaeologists, Co-director of Cambridge Keros Project and National Geographic Explorer, Dr. Michael Boyd, Archaeologist, Co-director of Cambridge Keros Project, Dr. Evi Margaritis, Assistant Professor at the Cyprus Institute, Assistant Director of Cambridge Keros Project and Dr. Georgios Artopoulos, Assistant Professor at the Cyprus Institute.
The team of archaeologists and contributors of the documentary took part in a digital media event, where the global significance of the Keros archaeologic research was discussed. The event also attended Mr. Dimitris Michalakis, COSMOTE TV Executive Director, and Mr. Vasilis Iliopoulos, The Walt Disney Company Greece, Country Manager.
"KEROS: THE MYSTERY OF THE BROKEN FIGURINES”, the first co-production between COSMOTE TV and National Geographic, inspired by the mutually shared vision of creating and delivering premium factual content, premieres on Monday 5 October at 22.00, on COSMOTE HISTORY HD. Following its airing, the documentary will be available on demand, via the COSMOTE TV Plus service.
