Int5Gent
Integrating 5G enabling technologies in a holistic service to physical layer 5G system platform
(11/2020 –4/2023)
Aim: The development of an integrated 5G platform for the validation of advanced 5G services and IoT solutions, by integrating innovative technologies in a flexible orchestration framework of 5G resources and applications.
Despite the move of cloud service providers closer to the edge of the network (edge), the concept of edge computing near the end user is still necessary to meet the strict requirements of 5G for reliability, security and extremely low latency, especially in industry, automated mobility and other critical services such as eHealth and public protection and disaster management (PPDR). In addition, the sharing of extreme computing nodes in telecommunications infrastructure provides a powerful new business model through which infrastructure owners and independent end-users, application developers, and service providers can benefit from each other, while the telecommunications provider can easily expands its portfolio to new types of custom-focused services. In such a network, the edge nodes (edge and fog) will coexist, with different processing capabilities, in a 5G fronthaul-backhaul infrastructure and will support the vertical IoT services and devices connected to the access networks, e.g. industrial or business nodes, smart home portals, private WiFi infrastructure servers, but also mini-DCs, application servers, content delivery and data storage nodes, etc.
The Int5Gent project aims to develop an innovative 5G platform that will have the ability to seamlessly connect the access nodes that support any type of IoT device and related services, through a fronthaul / backhaul adjustable bandwidth infrastructure, and on the other hand control and manage the network. and computing resources, and to orchestrate the lifecycle of evolving service functions.
