- A valuable tool for the National Healthcare System throughout the pandemic
- Real time cases registry and monitoring of their progress
OTE Group implemented the National COVID-19 Patient Registry, in collaboration with Byte Computer, for the Ministry of Health, through e-Government Center for Social Security Services (IDIKA). It is a computer system that guarantees the anonymization of patient data, in accordance with the Greek and European law for personal data protection and constitutes a valuable tool for healthcare scientists handling the pandemic.
The National COVID-19 Patient Registry is a joint initiative of the Ministries of Health and Digital Governance. For the coming months, it will allow IDIKA to gather COVID-19 related health data and enable the Ministry of Health and healthcare scientists to form state policies to handle and prevent the spread of the disease, and provide patients with effective healthcare services.
Fully meeting the standards set by the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the National COVID-19 Patient Registry enables real time registration and effective monitoring of cases. The system also provides:
- Electronic entry, on a daily basis, of all confirmed cases, medicine administered to patients, and the course and outcome of their hospitalization.
- Data for statistical analyses and epidemiological studies.
- Automated issuing of test referrals.
- Monitoring of samples sent to certified laboratories and electronic notification of results.
- Interoperability with third systems (AMKA-EMAES National Registry, e-Prescription System, etc.).
The CEO of IDIKA, Ms Niki Tsouma, stated: “
Technology is proved to be a valuable ally for the healthcare system in the fight against the coronavirus. We are thankful to the OTE-Byte association, for the promptness and efficiency with which they implemented the National COVID-19 Patient Registry, in the midst of the pandemic crisis, as well as to the other competent authorities, the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Health Ministry, the National Public Health Organization (NPHO), the Deputy Ministry for Citizen Protection and the Infectious Diseases Committee for their assistance and support.”
OTE Group Chief Commercial Officer Business Segment, Mr Grigoris Christopoulos, noted: “
