- Yet another distinction from the internationally acclaimed network benchmarking company, umlaut
- Even faster speeds thanks to COSMOTE 5G
COSMOTE’s mobile network turned in the best performance in Greece, overall and in the individual benchmarking tests, for Mobile Internet and voice services – performed by the internationally acclaimed network benchmarking company umlaut – gaining ‘Best in Test’ certification for the seventh consecutive time.
For the first time in Greece, the live measurements also covered 5G network performance leading to an impressive increase in recorded speeds. According to umlaut data, the average speed recorded in the measurements of COSMOTE networks increased by 57% versus pre-5G measurements, in 2019. Additionally, in download speeds, COSMOTE mobile subscribers enjoy speeds up to two times higher
[1] in average, compared to the competing mobile operators in major greek cities and towns, while in the country’s main national road network, COSMOTE download speed metrics were up to three times higher, in average.
“
We are proud of this new distinction, because it confirms the high quality of our networks and rewards the hard work of our technicians, who ensure the constant improvement of our network’s coverage, capacity and speed, and services’ upgrade. Our goal is the optimum connectivity and communication experience for COSMOTE subscribers, wherever they may be. We were the first to launch a 5G network in Greece and we continue to invest on the roll-out of COSMOTE 5G network in order to bring even faster speeds to more Greeks,” said OTE Group’s Executive Director for Network Development & Operations, George Tsonis.
“
Congratulations to COSMOTE, awarded as “Best in test” in Greece for the 7th time. COSMOTE is adding something on top for their customers being best in all tested categories: voice, data and crowdsourced quality. umlaut’s top priority is to fairly and transparently assess the global digital infrastructure, to push its quality and performance with its benchmarks, audit reports and certificate” noted Hakan Ekmen, CEO Telecommunication at umlaut.
‘Best in Test’ certification is the result of a series of independent benchmark measurements carried out by umlaut between 10 and 23 April 2021. The measurements, in the form of simulation of mobile subscribers’ regular use, were conducted using umlaut’s special scientific equipment (drive test tools) in 24 major cities and towns, as well as on the country's main motorways. The simulations, which were carried out on all popular Mobile Internet and voice services, measured the customer-perceived experience of reliability, sound quality/fidelity, call setup time, 4G/5G broadband connectivity, upload/download speed, internet browsing, HD/UHD seamless video viewing, and OTT Voice apps and gaming speed (latency). The ‘Best in Test’ certificate for the COSMOTE network, as well as more information on the methodology and results of umlaut’s measurements, are available,
