- New areas and more neighbourhoods throughout the country gain access to FTTH infrastructure
- Over 3.4 million ultra-high-speed lines in total, through COSMOTE Fiber
Access to ultra-high speeds and unlimited Fiber To The Home (FTTH) capabilities is currently available to 480,000 households and businesses across Greece, through
COSMOTE Fiber[1], the country’s largest fiber optic network. Continuing the implementation of the largest telecommunications infrastructure upgrade project in recent decades, in the context of which COSMOTE is deploying optical fibres across the country, COSMOTE activated FTTH in 10 new areas and continued to expand availability in areas that already have access to FTTH. Overall, COSMOTE Fiber currently offers access to ultra-high speeds up to 200Mbps to more than 3.4 million households and businesses throughout Greece.
Regarding FTTH in Attica, 100% optical fiber connection to the home is now available in the areas of Ano Liosia and Glika Nera. In western Greece and Epirus, Arta, Igoumenitsa, Preveza and Mesologgi gained access to guaranteed 100 & 200 Mbps speeds, and Argos was added in the Peloponnese. In Central Greece, Thiva and Karpenisi gained access to FTTH infrastructure through COSMOTE Fiber, as did the island of Chios in the northern Aegean. Moreover, FTTH was extended to even more households and businesses in Athens, in the areas of Zografou and Halandri, as well as in the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and also in Kalamaria and Pylaia.
COSMOTE continues to invest dynamically in the development and expansion of its fiber optic network. More specifically, for the 100% Fiber To The Home connection, the target is to have 550,000 FTTH lines throughout the country by the end of the year. Thanks to the ongoing expansion of the network, OTE Group remains the leader in population coverage, having installed over 77% of the total FTTH lines in Greece.
