The map presents an estimate of the maximum download & upload speed achieved using a device that supports LTE-A technology (Cat16 and above) and/or 5G, based on the COSMOTE network nationwide coverage. The actual coverage as well as the speed of the internet connection can depend on many factors, including the subscriber’s actual location, the supported technology (5G/4G/3G), the frequency bandwidth of the provider, the type of device used by the subscriber, the number of users connecting at the same time and sharing the same network resources, the local conditions, the configuration of the terminal equipment and the software, the destination of ascending/descending flows, any potential temporary network faults, availability issues or problems with the device itself, etc. The map uses data collected in March 2021; it will be updated annually or, in exceptional cases, if there are substantial changes affecting the coverage of the COSMOTE mobile network.
5G devices or devices with LTE-A Cat 16 technology supporting Carrier Aggregation technology, through which a high rate of data transmission (download) is achieved due to the combination of three or more available mobile channels.
The maximum download & upload speeds are grouped into six (6) categories, each covering a different speed range. Specifically, for maximum download speeds the following categories apply:
Excellent (dark green) for speeds above 100Mbps
Very good (green) for speeds between 30 and 100Mbps
Good (light green) for speeds between 10 and 30Mbps
Satisfactory (light blue) for speeds between 2 and 10Mbps
Moderate (gray) for speeds between 256kbps and 2Mbps
Low (black) for speeds below 256kbps
For Maximum upload speeds the following categories apply:
Excellent (dark green) for speeds above 40Mbps
Very good (green) for speeds between 20 and 40Mbps
Good (light green) for speeds between 5 and 20Mbps
Satisfactory (light blue) for speeds between 1 and 5Mbps
Moderate (gray) for speeds between 128kbps and 1Mbps
You can check the speed of your connection using an internet speed check tool. COSMOTE and OOKLA, the world-leading speedtest® company, have joined forces to create a new speed measuring tool. In addition to providing detailed information regarding the actual connection speed, this new tool enables the COSMOTE Technical Support team to have an accurate image of the measurements in order to better serve our subscribers in case of faults/complaints for low speeds. The Speed Measurement Tool can be accessed using any web browser installed on the user’s device (mobile, tablet, etc.), through the website https://myspeedtest.cosmote.gr. The use of the speedtest is free of charge and does not consume any mobile data from the subscriber's plan/bundle..
5. What are the subscriber’s rights with regards to internet connection speeds? In the event that a subscriber notices and confirms a deviation from the maximum speed shown for his area, then the issue is processed using the existing fault management process. In the event that, despite the efforts of the technicians, internet connection speed more than 10% lower 30 days after the customer has reported the fault/logged a complaint, then the customer has the right to terminate the contract without damages.
