Waste electrical and electronic equipment

Waste electrical and electronic equipment

The electrical and electronic equipment that is deemed inadequate or outdated is given to authorized companies for further processing (dismantling, recycling, disposal, according to the nature of the material). In addition, and since 2008, OTE have started a program for the collection of customers’ waste electrical and electronic equipment as well as used mobile, fixed telephones and accessories through the placement of special bins in OTEShops.

In 2010, 138 t of waste electrical and electronic equipment forwarded to “APPLIANCES RECYCLING SA” for further processing, an amount that is slightly lower compared to that collected in 2009. It is noted that the trend of the quantities forwarded depends on the lifetime of the associated equipment, as well as on the participation of our customers to the recycling program in OTEShops.

OTE materials that were no longer used, due to lifetime or financial (mainly) depreciation, were given free of charge to Public and Military Authorities, Security Agencies, Foundations, Churches, Associations, Unions, Schools and other social bodies. An effort is made to expand the “redeployment” program throughout Greece.
