The developers teams winners who participated in the new Firefox OS presentation event in Greece

The new Firefox OS presentation in Greece, organized by Mozilla, OTE Group (OTE, COSMOTE and GERMANOS) and Hub:raum Krakow1, was successfully held with the participation of 13 developers teams.

With a very high level of applications and intense competition, the Evaluation Committee chose four winning teams since two applications shared the third position:
The 1st
prize went to “Sopler”, an application for list development and management
The 2nd
prize went to “Whocallsme”, an application for reverse phone number search and user protection from undesirable calls
The 3rd prize went to “HOTECH” for the streaming of different media, such as mp3, YouTube, Soundcloud, radio stations and “Movin' App”, an application which enables users to compose music tracks.

The 1st prize is a trip to Poland, where the winners will participate in the hub:raum Krakow WARP project. The second team won the right to participate in Selection Day, an event that will be held on December 14, 2013 as part of the COSMOTE StartUp program. The members of the third award winning teams received as a gift the new Alcatel One Touch Fire Smartphone, also offered to the members of the first and second teams.

Commenting on the results of the event, John Bernard, Global Marketing Director for FirefoxOS, Mozilla, stated: "We are really excited about the results of this Hackathon: The developers’ response was overwhelming and the level of applications developed within a few hours impressively high. We are really glad for this, as Greece is a very important market for us, with a very dynamic and active developers’ community. We are optimistic that, as a new proposal which differs significantly from the existing operation systems, FirefoxOS will receive the same response from the end users, who will find in it the performance, personalization and experience they are looking for."

Speaking at Athens App Days 2013, Alexandros Davos, Retail Marketing Director of OTE Group, stated among others: "With iOS and Android sharing 90% of the European market, with more than 2 million applications, and with Smartphones’ sales having surpassed this year 50% of total sales in the Greek market, we realize how important the new software launch is. This is an opportunity that opens up new development prospects for manufacturers and developers, creating new, more user-friendly communication proposals. OTE Group, which consistently invests in new technologies and innovation, both in order to improve customer experience and create new entrepreneurship opportunities, could not possibly miss this."
